Mr David Eldon
Former Chairman, The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation and current Chairman,
Dubai International Financial Centre Authority
David Eldon commenced a career in banking in 1964. He joined HSBC Bank Middle East, a principal member of the HSBC Group, in 1968. Following a 37-year career with the group, spent entirely in the Middle East and Asia, Mr Eldon retired as chairman of HSBC Asia Pacific and as a director of HSBC Holdings in May 2005. Mr Eldon holds a number of directorships and other appointments both in Hong Kong and internationally, including chairmanship of the Dubai International Financial Centre Authority and co-chairmanship of the Korea Transitional National Competitiveness Committee, the first non-Korean to have held such a position. He has received many awards in recognition of his contribution to banking, in particular the Asian Banker Lifetime Achievement award.

Sir George Mathewson
Former Chairman, The Royal Bank of Scotland and current Chairman, Toscafund
George Mathewson is rightly considered as one of the greatest bankers of his generation following a distinguished 19-year tenure with the Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) culminating in the chairmanship of the bank from 2001 until his retirement in April this year. Sir George initially joined RBS in 1987 as the bank’s director of strategic planning and development. In 1990, he was elevated to deputy group chief executive, and in 1992, he was appointed group chief executive. He became executive deputy chairman in March 2000 before becoming the bank’s chairman in 2001.
Mr Cesar Virata
Former Prime Minister of the Philippines and current corporate vice-chairman, Rizal Commercial Banking Corporation
Cesar Virata is regarded to be amongst the most progressive political and financial leaders from the Phillippines, serving as Minister of Finance from 1970-1986 and Prime Minister from 1981-1986. Known for his tough economic policies and a clean international reputation, it was during Mr Virata’s time as Minister of Finance that the Philippines became economically strong through healthy trade and budgetary surpluses. Returning to private enterprise and serving as the president of the Bankers’ Association of the Philippines, he has been involved in strengthening the Philippines’ money exchanges. Mr Virata is now currently corporate vice-chairman of the Rizal Commercial Banking Corporation.

Mark Lawrence is MD of the Mark Lawrence Group, a Melbourne-based global risk consultancy. He advises major Australian, Asian and international financial institutions and regulators on risk management issues, including Basel II implementation; market, credit, liquidity, counterparty, and operational risk measurement and management; risk disclosure and transparency; risk culture, compensation and governance. Prior to this, he was an expert principal at McKinsey & Company and the chief risk officer at ANZ Bank.

Furthermore, Mac has significant practical experience in economic capital allocation and RAROC as well as over 20 years practical experience in Market Risk counterparty credit risk and Portfolio Management. He is the former Head of Teradata Enterprise Risk Management Practice and former Head of EDS Risk, Finance and CRM Practice APAC.
Mr Neil Parekh
Partner, Starin Capital, a private equity fund
Neil has over 25 years of corporate and investment banking experience. Prior to joining Starin Capital, Neil was the head of the financial institutions group at DBS Bank in Singapore. Prior to that he was the Global Head of High Yield Finance and the Head of US Debt Capital Markets at Societe Generale in New York where he also served on the bank’s global finance executive committee and the board of directors of SG Americas Inc. Previously, Neil was employed in the U.S. in various banking roles at Bank of America, Jefferies & Co., and GE Capital.

Mr Mathew Welch

Mathew Welch was appointed head of financial institutions in Asia for ING in 2008. Prior to ING, he spent a year with Temasek Holdings as a managing director with a focus on financial institutions. In this role, he was a board member of various investee institutions in India and China. Between 2003-2007, he was head of financial institutions Asia and global head of the banks business for Standard Chartered. Before that, he was at McKinsey where he helped build the FI practice in SE Asia and at Merrill Lynch, where he was a director in the investment-banking group.

Shankar is the managing director and regional head of transaction banking for Southern Asia in Standard Chartered bank. Prior to this, he was the SVP for product sales - financial institutions covering Australia, New Zealand, India and South East Asia for Bank of America based in Singapore. He was responsible for revenue goals across the cash, trade and banknotes product suite targeting banks and NBFIs. A 17- year old veteran at Bank of America, Mr Shankar has held responsibilities in various businesses with the bank including the Non Resident India (NRI) business, financial institutions relationship management, trade and cash management sales.
